Red Dawn | Black Tea
A TeaSource Exclusive!
Light in body, boundless in grace. Effervescent roses in aroma and a forest of peach trees in the cup. The olfactory presence outlasts a liquor that is determined to resist astringency.
A blend of harvests produced on April 3 and April 7, 2023. The final roast was done August 7, 2023. The material comes from the tea fields of Mr. Lin Rui Fu in Anxi County, Fujian Province. It’s a one bud, three leaf pick of the Huang Jin Gui cultivar growing at 2,400 feet. 2022 was a tough year for Red Dawn due to China’s covid lockdown and excessive spring rains, but 2023’s more cooperative conditions gave us an easier path to an excellent result.
The idea for Red Dawn came from our friend Daniel Hong in 2020 during Covid lockdown and is now a continuous experiment we plan to purchase in years to come. This is a TeaSource exclusive tea you won’t find anywhere else. You can read more about the 2022 lot of Red Dawn and the concept in general here.
