Temple Guardian | Oolong Tea
Available in 4oz quantity only.
The solid mineral character is balanced by a subtle roast and a slightly fruity tang. A simple tea priced for daily drinking.
Produced May 1, 2022 by Mr. Guo Wan Shu in Anxi County, Fujian Province. It’s a one bud, three leaf pick of the Jin Guanyin cultivar growing at 2,200 feet. Mr. Guo is a protector of a temple that is over 100 years old. It represents where his ancestors came from and why they have stuck with tea for so many generations.
The legend is their ancestor was an exiled political prisoner who was sent away to a distant island. On their journey to the island, they encountered a giant golden snake who blocked their progress. The snake told him and his guard that this is the place they should stay and the snake spit out a tea seed. It said the tea would keep them safe and in good health, so they stayed and have been living with tea ever since.
This tea is the product of an informal community supported tea program in Anxi that makes investments in tea farmers to improve quality and return better prices for the sellers.
