This Tokoname kyūsu comes from the Takasuke kiln and is certified by the Japanese Tea Instructor Association for it's size and balance. It has a built-in infuser around the inside of the spout.

Kyūsu means "teapot" in Japanese. It is a smaller style of teapot with a side handle to make it easy to pour with one hand. They are most commonly used for steeping green tea like Sencha and Gyokuro.

Tokoname (meaning "smooth soil") is a famous type of traditional Japanese pottery dating back to the 12th century. It is produced in Tokoname City in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. “Shudei" is a special red clay that is produced locally in the Tokoname area. Shades of green, blue, and other colors can be achieved by various blending techniques. Tokoname teapots come in a variety of sizes and shapes.
