Iccha Kariban | Green Tea
A nimble-bodied cup with a pointed floral character. The high aromatics are supported by a sweet citrus rind quality that minimizes the brothy mouthfeel typical of Japanese teas. A distinct and pleasant experience.
Produced in Kagoshima Prefecture. It’s a 2nd leaf and soft stem mix from first flush material (bud and 1st leaf are used in the highly valued and more expensive “Shin Chas”). It’s comprised of Yutakamidori, Saemidori, Asatsuyu, and Yabukita cultivars. The picked leaf undergoes a withering process (unusual for Japanese teas) and then a light steaming to accentuate and preserve the floral quality. It blurs the line between traditional Japanese and Chinese green tea characteristics, creating a unique tea with wide appeal.
