Twilight Tokoname Teapot (Kyūsu)
This Tokoname kyūsu has a unique two-sided design - the front is brown and green and the back is peach with white blossoms. It has stainless steel mesh wrapped around the inside of the teapot.
Kyūsu means "teapot" in Japanese. It is a smaller style teapot with a side handle to make it easy to pour with one hand. They are most commonly used for steeping green tea like Sencha and Gyokuro.
Tokoname (meaning "smooth soil") is a famous type of traditional Japanese pottery dating back to the 12th century. It is produced in Tokoname City in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. “Shudei" is a special red clay that is produced locally in the Tokoname area. Shades of green and blue can be achieved by various blending techniques. Tokoname teapots come in a variety of sizes and shapes.
