A full and viscous liquor gives off sugary sweet aromas. The toasted fruit and lilacs in the cup finish with a ripe plum tang. An unexpected and deeply satisfying rock tea.

Harvested and produced April 26, 2025 by our friend Mr. Soup in Dong Feng Town, Nanping City, Fujian Province. It’s a one bud, three leaf pick of the Huang Guanyin cultivar growing at 2,200 feet. Final roast was conducted November 4, 2025.

Western Steeping Method

Steep 4 grams of tea in 10–12 oz of 195°F (91°C) water for 4 minutes.

While I am sick at the time of writing, so my senses are not so acute, I will say this is one of the best oolongs I've had. Very nice full flavor that doesn't overstay its welcome and high quality leaves. Recommend to anyone who hasn't tried a rock tea before.

Philosopher's Stone Rock Tea | Oolong Tea

The description for this one is right on. The aroma is phenomenal and it has a dark robust backbone over which the fruity/floral elements sparkle. The only caveat is that the leaves give up most of their flavor in the first brew... The second cup is weak by comparison. Don't let that dissuade you, though.

Philosopher's Stone Rock Tea | Oolong Tea

I have always had mixed feelings over oolongs. It's either a love or hate relationship. I got this on a whim and I can't be more pleased and in love with this delicious brew. Incredibly smooth with notes of citrus on the tongue. Never had an oolong like it! I'd consider this one a fine wine of oolongs. Very remarkable and quite drinkable. Sad I didn't buy a bigger bag! Hope TeaSource keeps this one in stock!

Philosopher's Stone Rock Tea | Oolong Tea

One of the first teas I’ve had where I looked at the description from the packaging and thought “wow, yeah, that’s actually super accurate.” Smell of plum, tastes of lilac, with a citrusy end note describes this lovely tea perfectly. Doesn’t seem to stand up to multiple brews as much as other oolongs, but in terms of taste and smell, I think it’s one of the finest oolongs I’ve ever had…well worth the price! Also, just as a side note, this was my first time buying online from TeaSource, and their customer service is fantastic! 🙂
